LAMB’s Basket

Christ Lutheran is one of 47 area churches that supports LAMB’s Basket .  This ministry began at Christ Lutheran many years ago when a single little boy decided to bring a can of food with him to church each Sunday to share with the less fortunate.  By 1999 a food pantry ministry was being operated out of one of the church’s closets.  Today, LAMB’s Basket has grown into a community-wide ministry operating out of it’s own building a few miles from Christ Lutheran.

Each Sunday our parishioners fill our LAMB’s Basket wagon with non perishable food and we have 20 plus volunteers that work at LAMB’s Basket 3 days a month (9:30 am to 1:00 pm).  Mondays and Wednesdays are stocking days. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are client days. Our volunteers, many of whom volunteer on their own apart from Christ Lutheran’s 3 assigned days, stock shelves, unload trucks of food, sort breads and desserts, fill bags of bread, canned goods, meats, bag rice, help clients with their food selections and carry food to their cars.  We have a lot of fun working with each other and helping the clients.  LAMB’s Basket is completely volunteer run, so all volunteers are wanted, needed, appreciated and welcome, as are all monetary and food donations.  LAMB’s Basket is located at 8419 Oakview Avenue, Henrico, VA 23228.  If you want to contact LAMB’s Basket directly, you can visit their web site or you can call or email at (804)565-8007 or  If you want to connect through Christ Lutheran’s volunteer group, Sarah Vaughan serves as our LAMB’s Basket volunteer coordinator.
