Pastor Ralph KirkpatrickPastor Ralph was born in California and raised in South Carolina, where he began his long journey of faith.

Pastor Ralph graduated in 1994 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA in Religious Studies, and in 1998 from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, in Columbus, Ohio with a Masters of Divinity.

Pastor Ralph began his ministry as an Associate Pastor at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in suburban Indianapolis, IN.  Following this first call, he served in a “Redevelopment” ministry at First Lutheran, a historic downtown congregation in Indianapolis, after which he became Senior Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Indiana.

Following his ministry at Zion, Pastor Ralph completed a two-year residency in chaplaincy in a trauma one center, again in Indianapolis.  He then served for ten years as senior pastor at Peace Lutheran in Knoxville, TN before accepting the Call to Christ Lutheran in July 2019.

Pastor Ralph is certified by the ELCA in both Redevelopment ministry (helping congregations renew mission and ministry) and Specialized Ministry (chaplaincy in a clinical or other health care setting).  He is a certified Stephen Ministry trainer, and is currently working toward training in Spiritual Direction.

He has been married over 40 years to his wife Frannie, has two adult daughters (Arwen and Reilly), and two granddaughters (Molly & Maggie).  He proclaims that these five ladies are the apples of his eye.

In describing himself, Pastor Ralph notes that he is not a life-long Lutheran, nor a first career pastor, but is someone who seeks to follow his faith in Christ and to help others do the same, realizing how awesome it is to live in God’s grace.
